John Banrock

For the love of the craft

As an artist's artist, John Banrock creates not for commercialism but rather for the love of his craft. He strives to provide inspiration, comfort and the seeds of contemplation via song in the same way other artists' creations have done for him.
Banrock has just released his fifth full length solo album of original songs in 18 months. The release, Our Day at the Races, is his twelfth solo LP. He also performs and writes with the band The Trike with collaborators Fred Gillen Jr. and Paul JM.
John Banrock is an independent singer/songwriting, multi-instrumentalist, engineer and producer residing in the suburbs of NYC.

New album: Our Day at the Races

On April 22, 2025 Banrock released Our Day at the Races, a concept album of original works based on the following story:

“In November 2024 Dave Stanton passed away. His estranged son Drew returned for the funeral and came upon his father's journal while cleaning out his childhood home. In it was a lengthy entry detailing the day Dave took Drew to see the thoroughbreds run in the summer of 1999.  Tracks 1 - 9 represent Dave's writings. The finale is from Drew's perspective as he reflects on that day 25 years earlier when he and his dad briefly found some common ground. Ultimately it was not enough to mend their relationship but perhaps the lessons are sufficient to help Drew save his failing relationship with his own son.”
