Wed, March 26, 9pm EDT - Nirvana: Nevermind

One of the most, if not the most, pivotal albums of the 90's, Nirvana's Nevermind helped change the course of music.  Along with other Seattle-based bands like Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, Nirvana assisted in establishing the generation-defining genre that came to be known as grunge.  Released in 1991, Nevermind was Nirvana's second studio album, and the one that catapulted them into the national spotlight.   Join "Album Night" on Wednesday, March 26 at 9pm EDT to hear the sound that shocked the world over 20 years ago and to share your thoughts and stories. Despite those 20+ years elapsing, I can still remember exactly where I was when I heard Nevermind for the first time.  I look forward to hearing it again.

Classic opening track. Apparently "Kurt's friend, Bikini Kill frontwoman Kathleen Hanna, did indeed write, "Kurt smells like Teen Spirit" on Kurt's bedroom wall as a kind of taunt, and that was where the song title came from." http://www.spin.com/articles/true-or-false-8-myths-about-nirvanas-nevermind

Really is a classic. One of the defining songs of that time. Takes you right back there every time you hear it.

Here's some other interesting tidbits I came across on the album. The original title was going to be Sheep http://loudwire.com/20-things-you-didnt-know-about-nirvana-nevermind/

Just when In Bloom lulls you in, thinking things are slowing down after Teen Spirit - BOOM, you're back. In my opinion, one of the great things about Nirvana, Pearl Jam (early), etc. They could just command energy from a crowd, or even a listener, and get it. You couldn't escape it.

Can't believe the album is done already (unless you have the hidden track Endless, Nameless which my cd does not have). Great album though. It went by too fast
