A Deeper Understanding is largely a solo effort by Adam Granduciel released by his band The War on Drugs. It took Granduciel and his cohorts about a year to complete the album while meticulously layering instrument upon instrument. The music has a sound about it that just sort of floats. And it draws you in and comforts you. Sure, the lyrics are on the sad side, but the music is very inviting and hard to walk away from.
